Did you think of the late, great boxer, Mohammed Ali when you saw the title?

I thought of him and smiled when I typed the title.

But the post is not about Mohammed Ali.

It is discussing self-aggrandizing behavior.

 

Self-aggrandizing is acting or seeking to make one-self greater.

 

Matthew 18:1-4 states, “¹At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” ² He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. ³ And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

Jesus saw the little child as the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

People who self-aggrandize have haughty spirits which are not pleasing to our heavenly Father.

These spirits put others’ down, patronize others, or disrespect others seeking  to make themselves greater.

If we’re not happy with ourselves, we should do what needs to be done to feel good about ourselves without hurting others –

Lose weight, exercise, take a class, take self-improvement courses –if it’s issues we’ve neglected in our lives.

If it’s a spirit, we need to be delivered, set free, and filled with God’s Holy Spirit.

We are not ready for the marriage bed if we continue with the self-aggrandizing behavior.

First Samuel 2:3: “Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.”
