I am sitting here at my dining table having coffee with Jesus, praying and meditating in His presence. But things keep popping into my head – bills need to be paid; don’t forget to complete the schedule for the Outreach Ministry; it’s time to remove some of the dust, wash dishes, do laundry, and do some repairs around the house.
My house is forty-one years old. Still has the windows and insulation from the seventies. I don’t mind the age if it is effective.
I’ll share a secret with you, I was sleeping on a nineteen eighties waterbed frame until 2006 (I know, I should be ashamed to admit it).
My philosophy is, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?” to quote Thomas Bertram ‘Bert’ Lance.
Most of my furniture is over twenty years old.
But my home is not working properly in keeping the cold and air out during the winter and keeping cool and comfortable during the summer.
As I attempt to ‘have coffee with Jesus,’ my mind is wandering this morning. Thinking about the house needing to be winterized. Making it more energy efficient.
Instead of me being in the ‘present;’ basking in His presence and trying to get more of His anointing, the enemy is distracting me with thoughts of the world.
“Is this a ‘need’ or a ‘want’ Lord?” I ask. “Do I need to concentrate on all the things to be done at this moment?”
I believe we should be good stewards of the finances Jehovah has blessed us with.
But, I do not think ‘things and needs and wants’ should interfere with our quiet time with Jesus.
My desire is to be like Jesus. Only pray for what He wants for me. Remembering Yahweh will always supply all that I need.
“And my God shall supply all your needs through Christ Jesus. _______________________Phillippians 3:15 (NIV)
What are some of your needs you should discuss with Jesus today?
